I feel now I have a clear idea in my head about QC & QA! It really helped when I applied these to my own work and could see clearly how they are part/should be part of the production process. I also noticed the difference these made to manufacturing. In the past few modules I was faced with a lot of mishaps and problems during the production where this time around it all went very smoothly. Below i have pulled out the QC and QA steps i took in my Bee project.
Quality control
- During the final production I created multiple of each product part and selected the best quality pieces for the final product. I kept all the other pieces of good quality for spares and possibly another model but discarded any poor quality pieces.
- The quality of the product parts were checked at every stage of production before moving onto the next.
- At the end of production I did a final test to ensure the product not only looked good quality but also worked e.g folds correctly
Quality Assurance
- Sticking material to the laser cutter bed to ensure there is no movement when cutting
- Ensured my work area was clean before placing material onto it for folding
- Tested the machines are working properly and fiddled around with the setting until they worked they way i needed
- Did many test pieces to check the quality of my materials
- Had a Plan of Manufacture
- Ensured my abilities were up to scratch before final production
