There are a lot of Documentaries by "How it works:" such as the one below i watched on Metals. It was brilliant for helping me to understand and didn't get bored at all. Ive found books full of diagrams and huge chunks of text just seem to go over my head so these documentary have been a blessing.
It gave a step by step walk through of metals right from the extracting metal to creating super alloys for the space programme. I didn't realise how far back we have been using metal according to the documentary Ancient man could extract copper from rocks?...
It was really interesting to also see how metals are being created to be supremely light! when it is not really a material which anyone would attribute this property to. Its amazing how we can manipulate metals structure (and other materials) to suit our needs.

Due to the success I had with the metals video I watched the one on plastics also. I had been having a bit of trouble getting my head around all the Polymers and Monomers. We did cover this in another groups presentation however I couldn't really remember most of it and I didn't really understand it at the at the time either.
