From My bee project I realised that just as much thought needs to go into choosing components the larger elements to a project.
My eyelets for example 2 small eyelets were one of the smallest elements of the product however extremely important as it was holding the whole package together and if these failed to do their job properly than my product would fall apart. But i found with components its not just to do with holding work together or just the job they do but there are other factors which need consideration when choosing a component. For example; there are many different types of eyelets so why did I choose the ones I did?

- colour - as they were going to be placed at the top of the packaging in full view i had to choose a could which matched the rest of the product and was going to clash
- Water resistance - The product was going to be Placed outside exposed to the elements so had to ensure they were made from an appropriate material which would not rust or rot. I chose eyelets used for camping tarpaulin as these are designed to be outside.
- Weight - As weight was a huge factor in my project I didn't want to add any unnecessary weight as it all adds up, so chose a small sized eyelet made from a light material.
- Source - I found eyelets available in shops however these were quite expensive i found that ordering from the internet was considerably more expensive. The only downside to ordering Online is waiting for the materials to be delivered.
- As the product is designed to be sent flat and then assembled and easily disassembled, I had to use a component which was easy to put together and pull apart and wasn't permanently fixed together.
These considerations were also taken when choosing snap fasteners to attach my roof.
