In a session today I chose to look at this subject in the 2 hour research task as it was an area of weakness that needed addressing.
My initial preconceptions were.... sort of on the right lines, but was thinking more on the lines of mass production and wasn't sure how I can apply this to my own work and one off manufacture.
I started off with some initial internet research which made things a little clearer however QC and QA seemed pretty similar and I was struggling to grasp the difference between the two and what this means to me in my own DT experiences. To put it into context I examined the two part mould mini task I had finished recently. I looked at some problems that had occurred during this task by myself and other class members and how Quality control and Assurance could have been put in place to prevent this from happening again. It also identified some aspects that I was naturally doing already when manufacturing and hadn't even considered to be part of these processes which was good.
The session made Quality control and assurance a bit clearer however i still do not feel 100% clear on the difference between the two, the sources i looked at on the internet were not very too the point about what each of them meant and their examples of each of them sounded exactly the same.
As a way forward i need to wrote a short clear definition for each of the and give a clear example for each of them.
