I realised that my knowledge of marking out changed and improved when approaching a simple task of marking a square onto wood which i had done at the beginning of the course. This reassured me i am moving forward with this subject area and felt i could award myself another star as i have a fairly good understanding and using this in my work.
Marking a square for the first time:
Marking a square second tim, i changed the tools i used and took more time to check my measurements resulting in an accurate square at the end!
Marking a square for the first time:
- Tools- Plastic ruler, 2B Pencil, rubber
- Using the ruler measured from the top corner and down one side of the wood and marked desired size with the pencil
- Put the ruler on either end of the line and marked across the wood the same measurement as the first line desired size and drew lines across to join them to the first line
- Joined the two line sticking out together to form a square
Marking a square second tim, i changed the tools i used and took more time to check my measurements resulting in an accurate square at the end!
- Tool- Try-square, steel rule, HB Pencil,
- Using the try-square i checked the material for a true edge
- I marked from the top and down the true edge my desired measurement and marked it with my pencil, taking into account it was the inside of the line i was including in the square.
- I ensured the lines were faint and did not press to hard
- Using the set square a drew 2 faint lines from the top and bottom across the material
- Using the steel ruler i measured across and marked the desired measurements
- Using the set square i joined to the two lines together to form a square
- I checked all the angles in the square were 90 degree's with the set square and used the steel rule to ensure each line was the correct size
