I had pretty similar experiences as I had with the milling machine and the set up wasn't too dissimilar either which made it easier to get started.

- Small mistakes such as clicking on the wrong setting or tool will prevent the machine from working correctly. I experienced this when the tool kept plunging into the bed and getting jammed. I realised this was because I had not entered the correct measurement of my material. It is really important to check all the settings before manufacturing not just because it wont work correctly but this also wastes materials and can break the tool!
- The silliest problem I encountered was not being able to open the door of the machine! I found the symbols on the buttons difficult to interpret.
- Even when I had all my settings correct and had managed to get a test piece cut accurately the machine started to do strange things, which I could only solve by switching the machine off and on again..... then it worked fine!!?
- Allow enough time for error. You cannot create something on the CAM machines in a rush, they require patience and accuracy and time to correct mistakes and machine malfunctions.
