Myself and few others decided to get together to analyse and disassemble an old television.... and eat lots of CAKE!. This was not only delicious but a great way of applying the knowledge that we have started to build up in this section and use something much larger than the products I have looked at.
We fully analysed as a group everything from the aesthetics, branding, cost, materials and the internal workings of the television. I found the following things surprising:
Now that I understand existing products it would be helpful to start analysing my own work in this way, and looking at existing products which relate to my work to help me create a better product.
We fully analysed as a group everything from the aesthetics, branding, cost, materials and the internal workings of the television. I found the following things surprising:
- I thought the large back end of televisions was to house fans to keep the television cool however it was to house the Cathode ray tube (A vacuum tube containing electronic elements which make the pictures on the screen). It made me think of how much our televisions have changed and how we have advanced our television technology so much we can now make television ultra thin!
- It surprised me that there was such a small amount of screws holding the television together!
- It might sound daft but i didn't realise there would be a huge circuit board inside! (Honestly! what did I think was actually in a television! Tiny people!!?)
