I feel i have researched a lot better in my design innovation project compared to my past two modules. As i have ben designing something which needs to meet a particular specification therefore unlike past projects i have to be TRUTHFUL and ACCURATE with my research as it is for a real client and cant just make figures and facts up to suit what i want the project to be like.
what have i done differently and why its better...
what have i done differently and why its better...
- More extensive primary research (questionnaires, emails to charities and companies) , i have analysed my results from my primary research and used this as part of specification. The research i have been collecting for this project has all made a valid contribution to my design, made my project better! (which is what its supposed to do!) and not just copy and pasted for the sake of it to like ive done loads of work! ive learnt that its about Quality not quantity!
- researched new areas i have in the past skimmed over such as materials and costings. As i am from a graphic design background i find i often just research the aesthetics of design of the products, being superficial not looking much deeper into how a product works. This time i conducted product analysis to pick apart how a product has been designed and what contributes to its design, this has made me think about how i am going to design my own product to make it more successful, and what i have noticed about the way i have approached my design work in my current project is i have left the aesthetics aspect of the product LAST and concentrated on functionality first which is completely different to how i usually work!
- Getting my facts correct and from reliable sources such as weights, measurements and costs which i usually guess, make up or take from the first source i find. For example when research the costs of products i took a large sample from various sites to get more reliable results. as a result of conducting better research i am creating a BETTER QUALITY PRODUCT!
